The Closing
A Seven Day Closing Ceremony
Some years ask us to shed, others ask us to move. This ceremony honors both.
Start Here - Welcome
Day 1 - The Shedding
-
Take some time to write a brief reflection on 2025.
Let yourself explore:
the layers of yourself that fell away or the layers you witnessed that need to fall away
the moments when you listened to your inner knowing
the moments when you didn’t
the times life brought forward old pain, longing, or familiar patterns
the places where you were asked to meet yourself more honestly
These are simply prompts. Follow them or simply free write. When you feel complete, end by answering these Questions:
What did this year teach me about who I am stepping into? Then follow that up with…What am I stepping into in the coming year?
Day 2 - The Witness
-
Begin by opening the photos on your phone.
Move through the year month by month.
For each month, take a moment to write:
the moments that get your attention
the theme that comes forward for that month
So for me, for example. last year in January and February there were a lot of firsts. Babies were born, my husband entered a new decade, I led my first mama blessing, I began my tea practice. The theme that came forward was beginnings.
You may notice a theme of rest or survival or expansion or connection or avoidance or grief. Try to stay away from good or bad. It is more about, this is what is true.
Simply pay attention to what stands out. Notice where your focus was. Notice what you said yes to. What life asked of you and how you responded. Where your attention and devotion lived. This is about noticing how you are already creating your life. Not someday. Not when you’re better. Not when you have more money or time. But right now. In every moment. This brings a lot of clarity because you get to really see you you’ve been. Now take a moment to notice, not from a place of judgment but from a place of noticing… do I want to do anything differently? Does this reflect how I feel or want to feel inside? If so, there is nothing more to do here. If not, write down the shift you want to make.
Day 3 - The Calling
-
Today, I invite you to name what wants to live through you.
Begin by writing down everything you want:
to learn
to do
to be
To feel
to experience
to have in your life
Let the list be long or short.
Let it perhaps surprise you. Let your heart be open and don’t let your mind get in the way with the how or someone's else version of you or judgment for you. This is limiting.
Next to each item, write one word describing how it would make you feel. So you might say it makes you feel creative, satisfied, healthy, grateful, loved.
This is a map of desire. This is your calling.
a way of understanding what matters to you, what brings you alive, what you are saying yes to beneath the surface.
Let yourself want what you want.
Day 4 - The Direction
-
Okay…2026 is the best year of your life? Let’s claim that now.
And it is the Year of the Horse, it is asking us to move. So let yourself really feel into its energy:
freedom
momentum
wind in your hair
devotion to forward motion
the courage to go for it
The horse does not hesitate. It moves because movement is its nature.
Imagine embodying the horse in your own life:
How do you move?
How do you choose?
How do you live when you trust your strength?
Now imagine yourself at the end of 2026.
You are looking back.
As the writer, creator, and narrator of your life:
What did you say about this year?
What existed?
Who were you?
Who did you become?
Let yourself go for it here.
This is not the place to be modest.
Complete these prompts (you will want to end with 12 of them)
I am experiencing the most__________I have ever known.
This is the most __________ year of my life.
I feel the most connected to _________ in my life.
I am living the most__________season of my life.
I am creating________in every area of my life.
Some examples might be…I am the strongest and healthiest I’ve ever been
I am incredibly satisfied with my life.
I am in the most loving and fulfilling relationships of my life.
I trust myself and my direction completely.
I move through my life with freedom, confidence, and devotion.
I am financially abundant and am able to give freely to my favorite charity.
I am making the most money in my business.
I am the most connected to my children than ever before.
I finally finished my book.
I secured my dream job doing…
End with this is who I am now. This is how I live.
Write as if the field is listening because it is.
Day 5 - The Anchor
-
Return to the phrases you wrote on Day 4, these are your personal affirmations. These are more feeling based phrases. Things like I feel more satisfied in my life than ever before. I have more financial abundance than I ever have had. I
Under each phrase, write:
the desires from Day 3 that support it and anything else that naturally arises
There may be duplicates here, meaning that you may have one desire under many of the phrases.
Trust your intuition here. There is no right way to do this. Just feel into it for yourself.
You don’t need to figure everything out right now.
This is about noticing alignment.
Noticing what feels supportive.
Day 6 - The Choice
-
Return to what you wrote on Day 5.
Under each phrase, highlight or underline the two or three things that feel most important to tend to.
Then write down what you need to shed or let go of to move this forward.
Not the things that sound good.
Not the things you think you should choose.
The things that feel alive.
The things that feel necessary.
The things that ask for your attention in the coming year. You intuitive voice is always talking to you. Right now you ar deeply listening.
These are the choices you are wanting to tend with your time, your energy, and your presence.
Day 7 - The Commitment
-
Return to the phrases you clarified on Day 6. You have 12 of them.
Write each phrase on a piece of paper.
Cut them into strips and fold them gently.
Place them in a small bowl, jar or envelope.
You have two choices here. You can do this all at once today in this moment or you can choose monthly
Pull one for each month. First one will be month’s 1 focus, second month 2 and so on. This is a co-creative process. You are trusting that how they show up month by month is exactly the right flow for you. Each month you are tending to the supporting choices for that phrase or affirmation.
pull one phrase and write number 1, number 2, etc if doing it now
-OR- pull one each month at the beginning of the month.
This becomes your responsibility for the month
tend the two supporting desires/choices you named as well as the thing you are shedding
This moves your life forward without pressure. Not all at once but with presence and devotion and direction.
