The Closing

A Seven Day Closing Ceremony

Some years ask us to shed, others ask us to move. This ceremony honors both.

Start Here - Welcome

Day 1 - The Shedding

  • Take some time to write a brief reflection on 2025.

    Let yourself explore:

    • the layers of yourself that fell away or the layers you witnessed that need to fall away

    • the moments when you listened to your inner knowing

    • the moments when you didn’t

    • the times life brought forward old pain, longing, or familiar patterns

    • the places where you were asked to meet yourself more honestly

These are simply prompts. Follow them or simply free write.

When you feel complete, end by answering these Questions:

What did this year teach me about who I am stepping into? Then follow that up with…What am I stepping into in the coming year?

Day 2 - The Witness

  • Begin by opening the photos on your phone.

Move through the year month by month.

For each month, take a moment to write:

    • the moments that get your attention

    • the theme that comes forward for that month

So for me, for example. last year in January and February there were a lot of firsts. Babies were born, my husband entered a new decade, I led my first mama blessing, I began my tea practice. The theme that came forward was beginnings.

You may notice a theme of rest or survival or expansion or connection or avoidance or grief. Try to stay away from good or bad. It is more about, this is what is true.

Simply pay attention to what stands out. Notice where your focus was. Notice what you said yes to. What life asked of you and how you responded. Where your attention and devotion lived. This is about noticing how you are already creating your life. Not someday. Not when you’re better. Not when you have more money or time. But right now. In every moment. This brings a lot of clarity because you get to really see you you’ve been.

Now take a moment to notice, not from a place of judgment but from a place of noticing… do I want to do anything differently? Does this reflect how I feel or want to feel inside? If so, there is nothing more to do here. If not, write down the shift you want to make.

Day 3 - The Calling

  • Today, I invite you to name what wants to live through you.

Begin by writing down everything you want:

    • to learn

    • to do

    • to be

    • To feel

    • to experience

    • to have in your life

Let the list be long or short.

Let it perhaps surprise you. Let your heart be open and don’t let your mind get in the way with the how or someone's else version of you or judgment for you. This is limiting.

Next to each item, write one word describing how it would make you feel. So you might say it makes you feel creative, satisfied, healthy, grateful, loved.

This is a map of desire. This is your calling.

a way of understanding what matters to you, what brings you alive, what you are saying yes to beneath the surface.

Let yourself want what you want.
