“We are our body and our spirit, our mind connects the two.  It allows them to speak to each other.  We allow, the ego, to get in the way of the natural communication between body and spirit.  The body is our vehicle for the spirit to experience what we call life.”
Yoga, Meditation, and other eastern practices help to develop a Mind-Body connection and we, teachers, talk about it often.   I believe it is important because it’s the pathway to the connection between the Spirit and the Body.   Eckhart Tolle has a great story that reflects this. He talks about the experience of honey being different then the labeling of honey.  So someone can know all about honey, all the facts, but they have never tasted it.  And another person knows nothing about honey but has tasted it.  And then questions remains, who knows more about honey?
This is the feeling of the Spirit-Body connection.  It is our experience without the labeling. We develop this connection by first developing our Mind-Body.
When we practice yoga, we are given direction to move our body certain ways. Because yoga asanas are different shapes, our entire body gets involved.  At first, we may have difficulty directing ourself to do more than one movement at a time but as we develop the connection, our mind can become aware of our entire self all at one time.  We develop an acute awareness of what is going on in our body and we realize that our thoughts directly affect our body. Then while practicing, we stop, become still, we don’t adjust, we just maintain the pose.  In that place we begin to feel the pose without direction and without judgement.  We begin to allow the spirit to experience the body as it is, in its perfect state.  It is then that we begin to develop the Spirit-Body.
As we develop our Spirit-Body connection in our yoga practice or other practices, we then begin to feel it in our day-to-day existence.
I have recorded a meditation that helps me connect my Spirit-Body. In this meditation I use the breath as a direct link to the Spirit-Body. If you would like it, reply with a YES, and I will send it to you via email.
Thank you for reading, listening, for being YOU.
