This Yoga Tuesday I bring you Ardha Uttanasana, which is Half Standing Forward Bend.

So instead of bending forward to touch your toes, you bend forward and place your hands on blocks or a chair and then you extend your spine rather than round forward.

It is one of my 7 essential yoga poses for back care because it does not involve bending forward which puts too much pressure on the vertebrae and causes more back pain.

This poses stretches the hamstrings and strengthens the back muscles, both are needed for a healthy back.
